ACMe Food Co. has announced their sudden closure. Today is the last day for the local family-owned downtown restaurant that has been around since 2009.
In late August, restaurant hours were cut to exclude Mondays, but the complete closure comes as a shock to many Nanaimo residents who have been recommending the restaurant to visitors for years. Restaurant owner Tony Adema says there has been a decline in people downtown.
ACMe Food Co. was a hub downtown. The Laugh Lounge comedy shows and live music always drew crowds. The restaurant was a popular venue for meetings, events, and wedding receptions.
The local restaurant will feature its final comedy show tonight; reservations are strongly recommended. All menu items are available while supplies last. For their final day, pints of their local Vancouver Island draft beer is $5, and a burger with a side is $10.
