Business people, financial institutions and non-profit organizations are invited to a networking opportunity at the Nanaimo Museum on Thursday afternoon.
The City of Nanaimo Culture & Heritage Department is presenting Culture Fundamentals from 4-6 p.m. to assist non-profit organizations with obtaining funding.
“It’s just to get everyone in a room together and explore what funding opportunities are out there,” says Rebecca Buckler, administrative assistant for City of Nanaimo, Culture and Heritage Department.
She says representatives from financial institutions have been invited and business people are welcome to explore opportunities for community connections and partnering with non-profit organizations.
“They may find other groups to partner with,” says Buckler of business people. “This is one of many events we put on at least a couple times a year.”
The event will also feature opening remarks from the Nanaimo Foundation. There will also be information on the Canada Cultural Investment Fund, which provides matching funds to artistic organizations to create endowment funds or increase existing ones.
The application deadline is Dec. 1 and arts organizations must have an existing endowment fund held by a foundation such as the Nanaimo Foundation.
The non-profit organizations attending the event are part of the arts, culture and heritage group, and door prizes will be given out every 20 minutes.
These include tickets to events at the Port Theatre, the Harbour City Theatre, the Crimson Coast Dance Society, TheatreOne, the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music and the Nanaimo District Museum.
