Calais Spas Wins Second Award in Stiff Competition

Calais Spas and Billiards has won a top award in the pool and hot tub industry.

The Nanaimo business won a bronze medal award during the Pool and Hot Tub Council of Canada annual awards show held last Wednesday.

The award was a bronze medal from The Pool and Hot Tub Council of Canada 2015 design and construction awards in the category of Outdoor Vinyl Pool up to 450 square feet (no water feature)

“It’s very prestigious to win one of those as there’s lots of competition,” says Murray Renner, sales manager for Calais Spas and Billiards.

He says the awards are often won by large Ontario companies so when a Nanaimo company wins, it can cause some envy.

“It’s stiff competition,” says Renner. “I know the Ontario dealers get quite cranky when they lose to Western Canada.”

This is the second award for Calais, which previously won a gold award in 2011 for the Design and Construction Awards, Above-ground Pool up to 300 square feet.

“Now we have a gold and a bronze so we have to go back and get a silver or something,” says Renner.

Calais Spas busy season for pools is in the summer, with hot tubs popular in the spring and fall and pool tables popular around Christmas.

The Pool and Hot Tub Council represents more than 300 companies serving the industry.
The award was given at the 2015 Canadian Pool & Spa Conference & Expo held at Niagara Falls, Ontario.
