The new owners of Koncept Nightclub in Nanaimo have some interesting plans for the venue.
Andrew Harris purchased the nightclub on Skinner Street in November.
He says he wants to hold events and also provide a place for business clientele to entertain clients in a nightclub setting.
“I really want to emphasize that,” says Harris.
As for events, he has planned several events for the festive season.
The first is a singles mixer on Thursday, Dec.17 called Holiday Heatup.
It’s billed as a place for singles to meet in one night without the pressure of a first date.
“It’s a low pressure event for people to meet to mingle and have fun,” says Harris. “It basically breaks the ice. It’s a fun event. My buddy does it over in Vancouver and it’s popular.”
Another event being held is a Christmas party on Dec. 19 and a New Year’s party with a silver and white theme.
“Obviously New Year’s will be a big event,” says Harris. “Participants are encouraged to wear white or silver.”
Harris also wants to bring in comedy acts and other attractions, “not just be a nightclub.”
He wants to attract older clientele in addition to the 20 and 30 year-olds who generally go to nightclubs.
One of his goals is to attract business people.
“I’ve done business meetings at clubs, it’s a great ice breaker, a way for people to relax.”
The nightclub was previously owned by Jerry Hong, who is currently owner of the Queen’s and the Oxy Pub.
