Long Lake Chiropractic and Arbour Wellness Centre have joined together and are merging in the New Year.
It’s a move that benefits both businesses, which are currently operating out of one location at 3955 Victoria Ave. in Nanaimo.
“We just decided to have both our companies in the same location,” says Shawn Thomas, owner and chiropractor doctor at Long Lake Chiropractic Centre. “We’ve not merged as one company yet.”
He says the two companies have more to offer together and are working out more details and a new logo in 2016.
“We’re serving similar patients because there’s usually similar needs,” says Thomas. “We have a plan to serve our existing patients and grow that.”
He says patients are also able to utilize a line of supplements that Arbour Wellness carries which are convenient to use.
“All the products patients need are right there,” says Thomas.
Dr. Karen Fraser, naturopathic doctor and owner of Arbour Wellness Centre, says she has known Thomas for many years and they both share a similar style and philosophy.
“We both know we share a high standard of excellence in customer service,” says Dr. Fraser.
She says she was previously clinic director for the wellness team at a large medical clinic and after 18 months found the “conveyor belt” style of medicine was not a good fit for her patients.
“Despite being invited to lead the wellness team and form an integrative clinic, there was little collaborative effort from the clinic owner,” explains Dr. Fraser.
“So I decided to merge my practice in with Shawn to have more of a healing centre approach with like minded doctors with health conscious staff and directors.”
The other doctors on staff include naturopathic physicians Dr. Brandi Honaizer and Dr. David Milanovich.
For 2016 there will be a variety of new services offered.
“We’re offering some unique services,” says Dr. Fraser.
One of these is Prolotherapy, which involves injecting a substance into the body to relieve pain such as chronic myofascial pain, back pain, osteoarthritis, accidents or sports injury.
Other services offered include food sensitivity testing, fertility & family medicine and hormone testing.  Programs offered include hCG weight loss, doctor supervised cleanses, online guided programs, blood work and health assessments.
Dr. Honaizer has completed extra certification in pediatrics and Dr. Fraser is also licensed to write prescriptions as needed.
