Bending over backwards and keeping it simple is just something George Hinchliffe does as owner of Premier Carpet Cleaning.
This time of year with the holidays fast approaching, he will often do that to accommodate a customer’s request.
“I seem to bend over backwards to accommodate people,” says Hinchliffe. “I’ll come early in the morning or late in the evening or on weekends. It’s not a 9-5 enterprise. You have to be available when the customer needs you.”
He does recommend people book a week in advance however so they get the preferred hours they want, otherwise he has to make an early morning or late afternoon/evening call.
“Everybody in the world wants you before Christmas,” he says with a chuckle.
Hinchliffe keeps things simple in his business with a unique way of cleaning carpets that keeps costs down and customers happy. He also pays special attention to each individual job that ensures customers are satisfied.
“I think what makes me most successful is I do all the work myself,” says Hinchliffe.
The other thing that makes him different is that he does not use truck mounted equipment with a long hose that gets dragged into the house. He says this is harmful to the environment as the truck is idling the entire time the carpet is being cleaned. Homeowners also have to leave doors open when can be unpleasant on cold winter days.
The technology Hinchliffe uses is a Hot Water Extraction System, that ensures a consistent quality in every cleaning job. Some people might compare it to steam cleaning but it’s a misnomer. The Hot Water Extraction System heats water to 200 degrees F and it is then injected into the carpet at 200 psi. This blasts away loose dirt which is then sucked up by the professional grade vacuum system.
“With my equipment we come directly into your home and use electricity,” says Hinchliffe. “It’s much more cost effective. It also allows me to go up elevators. I did a job on the 26th floor the other day.”
The technology allows him to be efficient on the job as well as effective. A cleaning job that was expected to take six hours only took four hours at the Jysk store in Nanaimo in September.
Premier Carpet Cleaning has a simple flat rate pricing and is well known for its motto, ‘Where dirt meets its DOOM at $25 a room.’
“What sets me apart from other companies is it’s a very simple flat rate system,” says Hinchliffe. “My price is generally the lowest.”
He says sometimes people have a hard time believing it, but it’s true.
Hinchliffe has been in business since 2004 and cover an area from the Malahat to Deep Bay. Services include cleaning carpets, area rugs, upholstery, automobiles, boats and RVs.
